About this facility
The Desa Melawati branch of Seavoy Nursing Home occupies two linked shophouse units at No. 18 & 20, Jalan 5/4C, in the older residential part of Melawati at the foot of the Klang Gates quartz ridge. It is the larger of the two Seavoy homes and the one most visitors find first online. The chain was founded in 1989 by Datin Dr Mangalaveni Karthigasu, who runs it as both founder and consultant physician, and operates under Ministry of Health and JKM registration.
The team here includes physicians, registered nurses and physiotherapists, with Mandarin-speaking caregivers on shift. Care covers the full residential range a family in KL typically asks about: round-the-clock supervision for healthy seniors, monitoring of bedridden residents, post-operative recovery and stroke physiotherapy. Day care is offered for families who want a daytime arrangement before committing to a full move. Published rates start from about RM2,600 a month for a 6-to-8-bed shared ward and from around RM4,900 for a single room at this branch.
This is a practical, mid-market home rather than a premium one — it has been operating for over thirty years from converted shoplots, not a purpose-built facility. Reasonable questions on a visit: how many beds are in each room at the price you are being quoted, what the night-shift nurse number is, whether the doctor sees residents on a fixed schedule, and what the policy is when a resident's needs escalate (oxygen, PEG feeding, dementia wandering). Ask to see the JKM and MOH certificates.
